About

The OM Legacy Project is the remembrance program of the Ocular Melanoma Foundation.

Since the Foundation's early years, families have asked for a place to honor an OM warrior and tell their story. Those pages lived inside ocularmelanoma.org. The OM Legacy Project gives them a home of their own, calls each one a Warrior Story, and gathers their portraits as the Faces of Light.

The disease

Ocular melanoma, also called uveal melanoma, is the most common primary cancer of the eye in adults and still a rare disease: about 2,000 adults are diagnosed in the United States each year. Roughly half of patients develop metastatic disease within 10 to 15 years, most often in the liver, and treatments for metastatic disease are still few. Ocular melanoma is rare; research funding is rarer, which is why gifts made here matter. Learn more about the disease on the Foundation's site.

The Foundation

The Ocular Melanoma Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Washington, DC (EIN 20-0355509). It funds research, runs patient programs including travel and prosthetic assistance and a free eye exam program, and advocates for people living with the disease. Gifts made through the OM Legacy Project go to the Foundation.

What we promise families

A Warrior Story is free, permanent, and yours. We do not sell anything on these pages, place advertising, or share family contact information. If a family asks us to change or remove a page, we do.
